SBA SPECIAL PROJECT
I have asked Clay Spencer to come up with a special project which would be completed
at the conferenc. He has tentatively come up with and a forged SBA Logo Grill.
Each chapter would put their Logo in a circle or square that was no larger
than 12 inches or smaller tha 10 inches. These would be made and brought to
Madison and assembled there. The frame and SBA Logo woiuld be made by the
AFC according to Clay's design. I have asked Glynn Holmes and Harry Brock to finish this special project at
Madison.

FEATURED DEMONSTRATORS
For the 2009 Madison Blacksmith Conference, I have invited Scott Lankton, a graduate of theAachen School of design, from Michigan and
Mark Asprey trained in Ireland currently located in California as the Featured Demonstrators. Check them out on the web, google them up.
Scott has some fantastic work on the ABANA web site. Mark has accepted. Scott will do an archetectural project and Mark will do several projects.
These two demonstrators are excellant and should provide a big draw to anyone interested in Blackdmithing. There is a possibility that the SBA may share the travel fee for Mark from California with the sponsers of a class he is teaching at Eddie Rainey's shop.

T-SHIRTS
For this conferece T shirt design, I suggest the we incorporate a design of one or both of these two demonstrators work in our T Shirt.

DEMONSTRAION SITES
The Green Coal site both Youth and Adult will be set up at the normal position under canvas. There will be three demo sites set up under the sheds. One will be used by Scott Lankton another to Mark Asprey. They will demonstrate at these sites Friday and Saturday.

A third site under the sheds will be set up in honor of the AFC past Founder and President, Gavin Harris. At this site demonstrations will be conducted by AFC members to show-case how far the AFC has come in the last 25 years. Gavin Harris being the driving force. There will be at least 5 demonstrators showing you different aspects of the art and craft of the Blacksmith. These demos will take the place of the Blacksmith classes taught at the last conference. The demonstrators will be selected in the near future.

Respectfully Submitted,
Jim Batson

There are three demo sites, I intend to name one site the Gavin Harris Demo
Site. At this site I would like to showcase the forging talents of the AFC.

In the morning of 15 & 16 May 2009 there will be a three hour demo time and
in the afternoo there will be 2 two hour demo times.

If we have a demonstrator for each period we could show case six
demonstrators or 6 different demonstrations. If we did 1 1/2 hour demos in
the morning we could showcase 8 different demos.

I came up with possible demonstrators as shown below: If you would demo
contact me and give me what you would be demonstrating,

Clay Spencer
Alan Kress
Travis Flemming
Mike Linn
Al Stevens Ken Durham
John Wayne Taylor
Phillip Holey
Anthony Goodrum
Bob Taylor & john Blacklidge
Ken Durham
Jim Batson

I asked Clay to come up with a list of possible demonstrators.

It is shown below.

I have asked Clay to come up with a special project which would be completed
at the conferenc. He has tentatively come up with and a SBA Logo Grill.
Each chapter would put their Logo in a circle or square that was no larger
than 12 inches or smaller tha 10 inches. These would be made and brought to
Madison and assembled there. The frame and SBA Logo woiuld be made by the
AFC according to Clay's design.

I would ask Glyn Holmes and Harry Brock to do this special project at
Madison.
