Research on Blacksmithing emblems

I need help from our knowledgeable group. I am planning on getting my first tattoo when I visit my son Bill (some of you may remember him from meetings) and I'm trying to locate symbols or emblems denoting blacksmithing for possible incorporation into my tat. I've googled away, but so far, no luck. I'm thinking of something like the symbols or shields or emblems (not sure what they are called) that the medieval guilds used for their trades. I know I've seen them carved in stone or in stained glass windows in cathedrals, but I can't seem to locate anything. I did find the crest of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (Mark Aspery is a member) but it is rather complex and I don't think it would be right to use a crest of a group of which I am not a member.

Anyone out there that can help me?

Blacksmith Tattos

How about something creative from Mythology: there are the /Greek
Roman God, Vulcan, as seen in AL. How about some of the Norse legendary figures: Thor, I forget the name of the German smith God, but look into the "Rings" saga, not Tolkein, but the German legend with magical forges, swords, singing Valkeries with spears and helmets., etc.. Of, course you could use Tolkein, but then your into magical dwarves forging in caves.
The basic idea is to take some image you like and modify to fit your goal?
Now, what to do is look at Victorian era images of these legends.
Then create your image. Vulcan may be the best start?
Or you could just modify your "mark " into something that reads Blacksmith?

Linda:

I have seen pictures of "Ladies" working at the anvil in Middle Ages paintings. A Lady in a dress working the Anvil :)
