When droping a long bar onto your anvil to upset the end, be careful not to grab it in the heated area as it bounces back so you don't get a severe burn.

It may have been a small meeting in numbers, but it was really big in participation! I'm ashamed to say I chickened out because I wasn't sure I could still forge weld, but it was really great to see how many people were willing to get in there and try. I promise to give it a go next time. I guess we all need some prodding at times to get going and this is just what happened at this meeting. I think we need to continue this--let's just pick some basic skill like a leaf or a scroll for each meeting, have someone demonstrate first and then have everyone give it a try.
