iron from India

If anyone that took a piece of the iron from india I brought, and tried it, post how you liked it. Also any other comments. I'm trying to get in imported at about $3.00 per pound, in half and one inch round and square stock. Post any comments about that you may have also.

India Iron

I admit, I have a sample of the india iron, real iron and some old wrought that Jim gave me. I plan to test all three and report back. I have been a little distracted lately, but promise this is on the short list.

India iron, real iron

Did you ever do your comparison? How did they compare as to workability and things like rusting. My understanding of real wrought iron is that it forms a rust-like patina, but then doesn't rust anymore. Is that true?

Also, a few of us discussed getting some real iron from India or other places like the pickets advertised in the last Anvil's Ring. Any progress, especially on bulk pricing if we all get together?
